Tour guides are the heart of our food tour business and recently Taste of Thailand had the chance to chat with our guide Khun Jum (WATCHARAPORN PONPAI) to find out a little bit more about her.

Where are you from originally?

• Kanchanaburi province.

How long have you been a guide?

• I have been a tour guide for 10 years.

What do you like most about your job?

• I love having the opportunity to show visitors the truly Thai perspective:  the unique culture, stunning architecture styles, Thai foods, and beliefs.

What is your favorite Thai food?

• Spicy red curry and spicy sweet basil with meat.

 

What is your favorite place in Bangkok?

• The museums and temples!

What do you like to do in your free time?

• I always try to learn more and more to gather more knowledge and ability to be a better guide.

Three things you couldn’t live without?

• 1. Friends, 2. Work, and 3.Merit making.

If you could travel anywhere in the world to try the food, where would you go? Why?

• Thailand! After working for a long time on a cruise line around the world, I do realize that Thailand is the best place for food, with different types of curries, spices, desserts, and ingredients from nature.
