FAQs

What is included in the tour?

  • Food and beverages at select tasting locations per individual tour descriptions.
  • Licensed, Entertaining guide with an advanced level of English.
  • Insurance while on tour

What if I am a vegetarian or have food allergies?

Some of our tours can accommodate vegetarians (and even Vegans and gluten-free diets)!  Each tour description will note dietary restrictions. Feel free to contact us directly at info@tasteofthailand.org before purchasing a ticket to inquire.  If you are on a diet, we suggest you put that aside for the tour. We would hate for anyone to miss out on the delicious food!

I am concerned about street food; will we be eating it?

In Thailand, street food is part of the local culture, and we want to share it with you! Any street food served on the tour has been vetted and included in our programs for a reason – the food is excellent!  We can always organize a private tour of restaurant-only venues – contact us directly to plan!

Should I plan to eat before the tour?

We advise you not to eat before your tour, mainly if you depart in the morning.  You will experience multiple tastings, and we find the majority of our participants are pretty full by the end of the tour. If you are taking the last morning tour, a light breakfast will fortify you until we start eating! Whichever you choose plan on eating well with us!  On rare occasions, we offer cultural tours without food included, but that will be noted in the description.

What should I wear?

Thailand’s weather is mainly hot and seasonally rainy. In general, we recommend shorts and a light shirt as well as comfortable walking shoes. For tours that will visit temples or sacred locations, we suggest long pants and short or long sleeve shirts that cover the shoulders. Tank tops are not allowed. Proper footwear is also required.  Sandals are OK with something around the heel, but flip-flops are not allowed. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are never a bad idea. An umbrella and a sense of adventure are advised in the rainy season. Additionally, you can purchase rain ponchos with the tour.

Where does the tour begin and end?

Meeting points are described in the details section of each tour and tour confirmation emails. At the end of the tour, we will gladly assist you if you should choose to go anywhere else, you’d like in Bangkok.

Where time does the tour start?

Tours will start promptly at the time shown on your tickets and confirmation emails. Participants arriving late should contact us immediately at +66 or contact@tasteofthailand.org. While we try our best to accommodate late arrivals, those arriving more than 10 minutes late or after we have moved from our initial meeting spot may be considered no-shows.

How far will I have to walk?

Our walking tour routes typically cover 2-2.5 kilometers, with many stops for tastings and stories. Any tours that include alternative transportation or longer distances will have notes in their descriptions. Tours vary in their accessibility. If anyone in your group has difficulties walking or getting around, you can check in with us before booking to inquire about which tour is best.

What is the age range of participants?

Our tours are designed to allow any age group to participate comfortably.

I have kids! Are the tours suitable for children? Toddlers?

Children are more than welcome on our tour. We offer a reduced rate for children 5 – 13 y/o. For unpaid children under 5, participants MUST notify us before attending the experience. Many of the places we visit are very cramped. We must limit the number of unpaid children and strollers on our tours. For safety reasons, some programs may not be suitable for children under 5 years old and will be noted as such.

Are wheelchairs or strollers allowed on tour?

Unfortunately, Bangkok is still not a wheelchair-friendly city, and many of the locations we visit have uneven sidewalks and/or small staircases. As such, wheelchairs are not advisable for our standard tours. Attendees that require a wheelchair or walking aids or who plan to bring a stroller should contact us in advance to inquire about a private tour catered to specific needs.

Can I shop during the tour?

Unfortunately, we do not typically have time for shopping due to time constraints. We will provide a participant sheet with listed local tastings locations so you can return to any location at the end of the tour.  Private tours can also be arranged if you want to design your tour, which includes time for shopping.

How many people will be on each tour?

We believe that intimate groups provide the best cultural experiences. Our tours accommodate a maximum of 10 people.

Do you arrange private tours for groups?

Absolutely! We can run any of our standard tours as private for your group, which are bookable directly online.  We can also offer bespoke experiences based on our programs or your interests, for which you may contact us directly or email contact@tasteofthailand.org. Talk to us to cater for your day or evening requirements.

Do I have to purchase tickets online and in advance?

Yes. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance as we cannot accept walk-ins or last-minute bookings. Tickets may be purchased through our secure online payment platform, which accepts all major credit cards. All data transfers are encrypted, and we have implemented several anti-fraud measures to ensure online retailers and third parties cannot access any credit card information or other sensitive data.

Are there any discounts available?

We offer discounts for large groups and occasionally run seasonal promotions, which will always be promoted on our website, newsletter and social media channels. If you are a travel agency or organizing an extensive group tour, don’t hesitate to contact marketing@tasteofthailand.org for special agent rates. If you are an agent and have a group with specific requirements, contact us to discuss.

Are gratuities expected or included in the tour price?

Gratuities are always welcome and are not included in the tour price. Your guide retains 100% of any gratuities.

Can I cancel or change my reservation?

We understand that unexpected changes occur. Our cancellation policy allows changes to tickets per the following schedule:

  • 48 hours before the tour starts: 100% refund.
  • 48 – 24 hours before the tour start: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours & No Shows: No refund
  • Date Changes: Permitted 48 hours in advance of the original tour date.
  • Late arrivals: If you arrive more than 10 minutes late or after we have moved from our initial meeting point, you may be considered a no-show.

I cannot book on your website.

We understand your frustration. All the tours are fully operational. It might be the internet. Keep trying.
